Life Skills Training Project
This recently completed
project was conducted in collaboration with developmental
and educational psychologists at Cornell University. Researchers
at the Center evaluated a school-based drug abuse and
violence prevention program for sixth graders in New York
City that focused on the development of cognitive-behavioral
skills. The researchers investigated the extent to which
the development of such skills resulted in a reduction of
drug use, aggression and violence. Focused both on implementation
and evaluation, this project yielded concrete and effective
strategies for supporting positive social behavior in young
adolescents.
